Combined set of 6 Japanese bench chisels (oire nomi) with boxwood handles by AKIO TASAI. Tasai is one of the foremost chisel blacksmiths in Japan and produces chisels of the highest quality. He uses a specialty blue steel called Yakusi steel which he gets smelted for making his chisels. The chisels are beautifully made as can be expected and the boxwood handles are quite unique. On average Japanese chisels have either red or white oak handles and sometimes ebony, rosewood or sandalwood. Tasai is one of few blacksmiths that offer boxwood handles. Boxwood is a very dense (without being brittle), slow growing timber with a beautiful rich yellow colour. The chisels are brand new and comes packaged each in an individual box.
