This flea is made in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture. The characteristic of this chisel is that it is made of high speed steel, so the blade is very strong and the sharpness lasts a long time. However, sharpening fleas with a whetstone is more difficult than with a regular knife. Ichikako material is used for the handle. The characteristic of this pattern is that it is light and the recoil is hard to reach. The characteristic of this chisel is that it does not lose its sharpness even when used for hardwood or laminated wood. It is thinner than other fleas and can be used to cut wood lightly. The blade is so durable that it lasts 2-3 times longer than regular fleas. It is strong against hits and the blade is not easily chipped. However, you cannot sharpen this chisel with a soft whetstone. Sharpen this chisel with a hard whetstone that can sharpen high-speed steel. This chisel helps a carpenter doing a lot of hard work. The characteristic of this chisel is that it does not lose its sharpness even when used for hardwood or laminated wood. It is thinner than other fleas and can be used to cut wood lightly. The blade is so durable that it lasts 2-3 times longer than regular fleas. It is strong against hits and the blade is not easily chipped. However, you cannot sharpen this chisel with a soft whetstone. Sharpen this chisel with a hard whetstone that can sharpen high-speed steel. This chisel helps a carpenter doing a lot of hard work. HSS is so hard that it is difficult to grind, but you can grind it with a diamond whetstone. You can keep the sharpness even in hard work. It requires skill, but it can be sharpened like White steel. I finally had some time to sharpen the HSS chisel. It sharp easy on my diamond stones and it got very sharp. I then tested it on some American white oak and some Baltic Birch plywood which has many layers. It held up for about 50 hard hammer hits before the edge deformed & dulled. I was happy with the performance as those are 2 very hard materials and the plywood has glue and who knows what else in it. Please refer to the pictures for more details.
