I have a large collection of Japanese chisels, so if you don’t see what you’re looking for in my store, please send me a message and I will check my inventory. This Japanese chisel set was forged by Iwazaki Eisuke, a skilled blacksmith using traditional techniques with laminated steel construction. The high carbon steel provides an extremely sharp edge while the soft backing steel provides toughness and durability. The style is Oire Nomi, otherwise known as a standard bench chisel. This style of chisel is meant for general-purpose use and is suitable for carpentry and cabinetry work. With a metal hoop to prevent splitting of the wood handle, it is meant to be hit with a genno or metal hammer. Length: around 225mm 8 7/8. Bevel Angle: around 30°. Blacksmith: Hidari Nobuhiro – Iwazaki Eisuke. Hard Steel: Shirogami #2 (Hitachi White Paper Steel #2). Style: Oire Nomi (bench chisel). Handle Wood: Akagashi (Japanese Red Oak). The cardboard box is included. It’s from a different set and the top is a little beat up.
