Hand Forged by Yasushi Hanyu in Niigata Perfecture. New old stock & unused – maintained with Camilla Japanese oil & stored in a climate controlled environment with relative humidity between 45-55%. This comes in a generic blood red corrugated box (13.75″ x 10.125″ x 1.75 thick) in very good condition that has wear (from storage) with foam insert to hold the 10 chisels. Lacquered Macassar ebony handle. Hand hammer hoop and ferrule. Tang chisel with ferule construction. Chisel shape of the chisel sides are “Mentori” (chamfered). Aogami/blue paper steel cutting edge. Damascus steel blade on the laminated multi layer core chisel blade body forming a “mokume-suminagashi” marbling/wood grain pattern. Sen scraped polished finish with triple, double & single hollow back (ura) depending on the blade widths; hollow backs allows for ease of sharpening.
