This chisel is made in Sanjo City, Niigata. The characteristic of this chisel is that it is made of White steel #2 (shirogami2gou). The chisel was made by Nagaoka Kazuyoshi, a blacksmith from Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture. His job was to seek the sharpness and sharpness of the chisel by suppressing the disharmony between steel and soft iron. It is made by special low temperature forging only in his workshop. Oire Nomi is a standard Japanese bench chisel used for general woodworking, joint fitting, trimming, and other everyday joinery work. This example has a blade width of 18mm (approximately 0.71 in). A distinctive feature of this Yoshio Usui HSS series is its relatively slim blade profile compared with many conventional Japanese chisels, helping reduce bulk around the work when clearance matters. The blade itself is made from High-Speed Steel as an All HSS Blade.
