Umeki White Steel Japanese Dovetail Chisels. The smith’s family have specialised in making chisels since 1930. These are professional quality chisels with a super hard edge for the cleanest of clean cuts made from White Steel, the same steel used to make Katana. The extra hardened laminated steel holds an excellent edge but needs to be used by an experienced woodworking. The reason being the super hard steel makes for very clean cuts, edge durability but can be prone to chipping in the hands of an inexperienced user. Woodworkers without sufficient experience should consider the softer more forgiving steel of the Maruya chisels. If someone is interested I can get sets of ten Umeki chisels. 9, 15, 25, 30 and 36.
